I was just informed that there is a Junior activity at the Career Center next week (2/6-2/9). If you attend one of the tutorial sessions next week and hand in the worksheet that you will complete in the tutorial, then you will earn ten points in a ten point assignment that I'm creating for you in Tests and Quizzes. If you choose NOT to go to next week's activity, I will X you out of the assignment and you will NOT lose points. By the way, the Realism test is coming up and students generally do poorly on it.
I need about 20-30 minutes of help today after school if anyone is interested (about 5 people). Correction--now 4, one student signed up! Correction--looks like I've got a good team! Thanks! OK--I'll see the five below + Joyce today after sixth period.

1. Find specific lines in the story that illustrate the different aspects of Naturalism (at least three). Be sure to explain the connection between the lines and Naturalism. How is the Crane story different from the other pieces that we have read in this unit? Contrast "Open Boat" with two other stories in this unit ("Owl Creek Bridge" "To Build a Fire"...)
There should be no surprises. What poetic elements do the poets use? How do they tie into purpose? What is the tone? A couple tone questions. Questions on the background information. Questions about how you would define their style. And of course, things that we discussed in class. You'll do fine!

The Realism outline is also due the 16th--the Realism intro is in Forms and Docs. |
